Now all users of the Nemo.Travel online ticket sales platform, which includes hundreds of travel agents around the world, can take advantage of the innovative S7 Airlines ticket payment system.
The blockchain-based payment solution developed by S7 TechLab professionals offers efficient, secure and prompt settlements between agents and the airline—money paid to purchase a ticket is debited from the agent’s bank account in real time.
“When working with online agents, we use a product developed on the basis of the IATA NDC — S7 Agent API, which provides agents with direct access to all S7 Airlines services. Last year, we connected our first online agent that works according to the international NDC standard to the blockchain platform. I am certain that it will be easier now for agents who are connected to the S7 Agent API via Websky Tech to switch to blockchain-technology-enabled settlements,” said Igor Veretennikov, Deputy General Director of Sales at the S7 Group.
Joining the S7 Airlines blockchain platform will enable our clients who use Nemo.Travel to work more efficiently in times of crisis. It’s no secret that agents are having a particularly difficult time during the industry crisis caused by COVID-19. Automation of settlements for online sales is one of the ways to optimize work, and it is great that our S7 Airlines colleagues are willing to provide this technology not only for their own terminals. We always try to do our best to support our clients as much as possible, providing them with modern tools and advanced solutions that foster the development of the agencies' business,” said Dmitry Novikov, Commercial Director of Websky Tech.
“We have been working with S7 Airlines for many years, initially through partners, and starting from last year—directly. S7 Airlines flights represent about 30% of our total sales. The option to handle settlements via the blockchain in the Nemo.Travel online system has taken our partnership to a new level. The technology does not require maintaining a deposit—all the money is at work, which is especially important for our business, given the current crisis in the tourism market. Thus, we have an incentive to recommend S7 Airlines flights to our customers more often,” stated Yelena Sharova, General Director of BaltBilet, a business travel agency.
The S7 Airlines blockchain platform developed in partnership with Alfa-Bank uses the Hyperledger Fabric protocol. This is the first project to develop an infrastructure for processing online payments—from booking tickets to executing bank payments. The introduction of the platform has made it possible to increase the speed of settlements and cut down paperwork, ensuring the safety of transactions. At the beginning of the year, S7 Airlines switched to a new version of the platform. Currently each transaction takes just 15 seconds.
