RSC Energia signed contract on creating launch compound for Soyuz-5 rockets at Baikonur spaceport

Russia’s Energia Space Rocket Corporation signed a contract on creating the Baiterek launch compound for Soyuz-5 next-generation carrier rockets at the Baikonur spaceport in Kazakhstan. This reported by RSC Energia press-service on Thursday.

On July 30, 2020 a ceremony was held to sign an agreement to conclude a contract between Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (which is a part of State Corporation Roscosmos) and the joint venture Baiterek to provide services in support of the development of Space Rocket System Baiterek based on a new-generation medium space rocket for launching unmanned spacecraft.

The agreement was signed by RSC Energia General Director Igor Ozar and General Director of JV Baiterek Kuat Mustafinov. The signing took place in the presence of the Director General of State Corporation Roscosmos Dmitri Rogozin and Vice Minister of the Ministry for Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azamat Batyrkozh.

The Baiterek project calls for the development of the Baiterek rocket system based on the Zenit-M ground infrastructure at Baikonur cosmodrome for launches of the advanced medium launch vehicle Soyuz-5.
