Crews of Su-24M bombers avoided a mock enemy missile strike near Volgograd

The crews of front-line Su-24M bombers of the Southern Military District in the framework of a sudden check of the troops ' combat readiness worked out tasks on avoiding a missile attack of a mock enemy in the Volgograd region.

When performing flights, the crews worked out the introductory information about the missile attack of the mock enemy, the pilots quickly lifted the aircraft into the air and successfully performed a set of air maneuvers to escape from the attack of the mock enemy's air defense.

During the exercise, the crews conducted reconnaissance in a given square, including at extremely low altitudes with a rounding of the terrain and transmitted data to the control point.

July 17, 2020 in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation started a sudden inspection of troops and forces of the Southern Military District, parts of military control bodies and troops of the Western Military District, the formations of the airborne troops, as well as formations and military units of the marine corps of the Navy.

In total, about 150,000 military personnel, about 400 aircraft, more than 26,000 weapons, military and special equipment, and more than 100 ships and support vessels were involved in the sudden inspection.

The main purpose of the events is to check the readiness of units to perform tasks for their intended purpose, as well as to assess the level of training of personnel, technical readiness and staffing of formations and military units with weapons and military equipment.
