Military Transport Aviation aircraft Il-76 used to assist in extinguishing wildfires in the Ulyanovsk region

According to the decision of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, Il-76 military transport aviation (VTA) aircraft are involved in helping to extinguish wildfires in the Ulyanovsk region.

On July 15, 2020, the crew of an Il-76 military transport aircraft equipped with an aircraft discharge device (VAP-2) made the first flight to extinguish a forest fire in the Mainsky district of the Ulyanovsk region, dumping 42 tons of water on the fire.

The Il-76 aircraft of the Ulyanovsk military transport aviation regiment are equipped with aircraft discharge device (VAP-2), and the pilots have been trained to perform such tasks.
