The crews of the Mi-8 helicopters of the separate transport mixed aviation regiment of the Central Military District performed the first live firing at the training ground in the Kurgan region in the summer period, during which about 20 ground targets were hit.

To carry out the live firing program, the crews of young pilots of the Mi-8 military transport helicopters flew to the area of the alleged concentration of mock enemy forces, worked out issues of air navigation and air reconnaissance. After visual detection of the targets, the pilots opened fire from regular gun weapons and launched unguided С-8 aircraft missiles, being at an altitude of about 50 meters.

The main feature of the firing was the launch of unguided missiles С-8, during which it is necessary to calculate the speed of movement, altitude and the correct angle of launch of the missiles.

During the shooting, six crews of Mi-8 helicopters made 13 sorties to use unguided aircraft missiles С-8 and hit more than 20 ground targets.
