As part of an emergency response program for the recent oil spill in Norilsk, Russia, Volga-Dnepr Group has operated a series of flights to transport rescue equipment and reagents for energy corporation Gazprom.

Over 40 tonnes of cargo were flown by two charter flights on Volga-Dnepr Airline’s IL76-TD-90VD aircraft from Nizhnevartovsk to Norilsk.

The program was also supported by four flights carrying sorbents and containers operated by sister Volga-Dnepr Group airline ATRAN, using scheduled services from Moscow.

The loads included oil spill liquidation and pumping equipment, excavators and booms, a tent camp and autonomous support systems, together with food supplies for emergency responders at the site.
