Russian inspectors will perform observation flights over the territory of Germany

According to Sergey Ryzhkov, head of the Russian National center for nuclear risk reduction, as part of the implementation of the International Treaty on Open Skies, the Russian group of inspectors plans to perform an observation flight on a Russian An-30B observation plane over the territory of the Germany.

Observation flight over Germany will be carried out in the period from 2 to 6 March from the Open Sky Cologne Bonn Airport. The maximum flight range will amount to1,300 km.

The Russian surveillance aircraft will fly along the route agreed with the observed party, and German specialists on board will monitor the use of surveillance equipment and compliance with the provisions stipulated by the Agreement.

Observation flights within the framework of the treaty are carried out in order to promote greater openness and transparency in the military activities of the participating States, as well as to enhance security through strengthening confidence-building measures.
