Russia’s S7 Airlines will cancel all regular flights to South Korea from March 1 until March 31, the company said in a statement late on Thursday.

“On orders from the Transport Ministry, S7 Airlines has to suspend all of its scheduled flights from Russia to South Korea from March 1 until March 31. The company will organize charter flights to bring all travelers home. The airline will rebook only foreigners for flights from Russia to Seoul, and only citizens of Russia and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union for flights from Seoul,” the company said.

On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that Russia would suspend air travel to and from South Korea due to a coronavirus threat from Sunday. She also said that all he restrictions, imposed earlier by Russia to prevent the spread of coronavirus, would be prolonged until April 1. On Thursday, a representative of the Transport Ministry said that it had imposed a temporary ban on regular and charter flights to and from Iran starting from Friday.

Now, only Russian national flagship carrier Aeroflot is allowed to make scheduled flights to and from China, South Korea, and Iran, while its subsidiary Aurora is also allowed to fly to South Korea. At the same time, Air Korea and Iran’s Mahan Air are allowed to fly to Russia, as well as four Chinese airlines.
