In the Irkutsk region, a tactical flight exercise was held with a squadron of Tu-22M3 long-range bombers. This reported by Russian Ministry of Defence press-service.

Within the framework of the event, the preparation of aviation equipment, flight and engineering personnel for performing tasks for their intended purpose was checked.

Long-range aviation crews have worked out the relocation of aviation equipment to an operational airfield, piloting techniques in difficult weather conditions, interaction with other types of aviation, overcoming the air defence system of a mock enemy and conditional combat offence on ground targets.

After landing, the temporary standards for preparing aircraft for re-departure were also checked.

In total, the event involved about 10 Tu-22M3 aircraft, as well as Su-30sm fighters, crews of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems of various modifications and radar stations.
