On October 6, an open career guidance lesson was held for the first stream of students of the aviation class operating under the auspices of Rossiya Airlines at the Murmansk academic Lyceum.

The open lesson was attended by representatives of the Lyceum management, Murmansk Airport, the Education Committee of the Murmansk Administration, as well as Rossiya Airlines. The main topic of the lesson, as well as the goal of the social and educational initiative of Rossiya in general, was to introduce young aviators to the specifics of working in the industry and possible scenarios for professional development in the domestic civil aviation system.

The open lesson dedicated to the Teacher's Day was the first large-scale public event with the participation of the airline's team. Andrey Pivovarov, the Head of the Aviation and Technical Support Department of Rossiya, held a lecture to students, who had already formed an idea of the basics of working as pilots and flight attendants during the first month of the educational programme. During his lecture, he shared the history of his career in aviation, and also spoke about the huge number of popular technical specialties that are critical for the functioning of the industry, with students. At the end of the lesson, the students went to the airport, where representatives of the air harbor conducted a tour over the service facilities, introducing students to the specifics of flight technical support.

The idea of creating a profile class on the basis of one of the Murmansk educational institutions appeared in 2018. Representatives of Rossiya Airlines and the Management of Murmansk Airport discussed the possibility of implementing this project and the prospects for its development. The basis for the appearance of this idea was the lack of highly qualified aviation specialists, as well as the lack of awareness of school students in the traditionally maritime region about flight professions and opportunities of aviation educational institutions in Saint Petersburg, the airline's base city.

The city administration has identified the Murmansk Academic Lyceum as the site for the project. The project's working group, which also included representatives of the Saint Petersburg Sate University of Civil Aviation and Murmansk Airport, developed a curriculum focusing on training specialists in the field of civil aviation. The practical part of the educational programme was also planned: master classes, «open» lessons, career guidance classes and excursions with the direct participation of active employees of Rossiya Airlines and partner companies will be provided throughout the training period.

In the spring 2020, the Lyceum announced a competition for admission to the profile class, during which 25 children were selected. Training started on September 1. During the training, students will be able to personally meet the heads of key divisions of the airline and ask them questions. Graduates will have a priority employment in the divisions of Rossiya Airlines both in Saint Petersburg and Moscow, where most of the airline’s fleet of domestic production will be concentrated.
