Four Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) were relocated from Pskov and Tver regions to the Diaghilev military airfield to extinguish a fire at an ammunition depot in the Ryazan region.
The crews of military transport aircraft started refueling the aircraft with fuel, and pouring devices with fire-extinguishing liquid.
At dawn on October 8 this year, after reconnaissance of the terrain and setting missions, the crews of the Il-76 aircraft will discharge water to the sources of fire to localize them.
The Il-76 aircraft are equipped with VAP-2 aircraft discharge devices with a capacity of 42 tons. The pilots were trained to perform fire fighting tasks in open spaces from the air.
The group of the Russian Defence Ministry, created to eliminate a fire on the territory of an ammunition depot in the Ryazan region, has 189 military personnel, 38 units of military and special equipment, 4 Il-76 aircraft equipped with VAP-2 aircraft discharge devices, 3 Mi-8 helicopters with APU-5 spillways.
As part of the units taking part in the elimination of the emergency, robotic systems for mine clearance "Uran-6" and fire extinguishing "Uran-14", UAV "Orlan-10", engineering barrage vehicles IMR-2, fire tanks, special armored fire trucks and other special equipment.
