According to Sergey Ryzhkov, head of the Russian National center for nuclear risk reduction, a joint mission of Canada and the United States will perform an observation flight over the territory of the Russian Federation on a canadian C-130J observation plane from January 27 to February 1 as part of the implementation of the international Treaty on Open Skies.

During the flight along the agreed route, Russian specialists on board of the aircraft will monitor strict compliance with the agreed flight parameters and the use of the surveillance equipment provided for in the contract.

The C-13OJ is a class of aircraft that is not intended for the use of any weapons. The aircraft and the surveillance equipment installed on it (aerial cameras) passed an international inspection, which was attended by Russian specialists, which excludes the use of technical means not provided for in the Open Sky Agreement.
