Russian helicopter pilots of the 201st military base conducted bombing and launches of unguided aircraft missiles during a tactical flight exercise in Tajikistan.

At the Lyaur training ground, during the main part of the exercise Mi-8 helicopter crews worked out the transfer of tactical troops to the mountain range, as well as fire cover for tank and motorized infantry units that are in the offensive and defence. After receiving the coordinates of the areas of concentration of the mock enemy from the reconnaissance groups, the pilots used 100-kilogram high-explosive bombs, and used unguided cumulative fragmentation and armor-piercing missiles to hit targets that imitate armored vehicles.

The one-day tactical flight exercise involved more than 500 personnel and about 100 units of weapons and military equipment.

The 201st Russian military base stationed in Tajikistan is the Russia's largest military formation outside its borders. It is located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. According to the Agreement dated October 2012, the base shall station in Tajikistan until 2042.
