On August 6, 2019, the Spektr-RG space observatory control team at Lavochkin NPO (part of Roscosmos State Corporation) performed the second scheduled correction of the spacecraft flight path.
The correction included giving two impulses to Spektr-RG propulsion system during a 4-hour interval – at 14:30 UTC and at 18:35 UTC respectively. The correction went as planned, all the onboard systems function as expected.
The spacecraft continues its flight to the L2 Sun – Earth system libration point area and is expected to reach it in October 2019.
During the flight, on July 30 the Russian ART-XC onboard the spacecraft sent first images. The telescope took a picture of the X-Ray pulsar Centaur X-3 (Cen X-3).
Upon reaching its working orbit, 1.5 million kilometers away from the Earth the observatory will explore the Universe in the X-Ray spectrum.
