Two scheduled orbit corrections were carried out according to the ISS flight program

On August 15, 2019, two scheduled orbit corrections were carried out according to the International Space Station flight program.

The Progress MS-12 cargo spacecraft propulsion system docked to Pirs module was switched on at 05:53 UTC. The engines worked for 585 seconds, as a result the station got velocity increment by 0.58 m/s. At 08:55 UTC the freighter propulsion system was switched on for the second time, also for 585 seconds. As a result, the station received another velocity increment by 0.58 m/s.

According to the Mission Control Center data, after the two maneuvers the station has the following orbit parameters:

Minimal height over the Earth’s surface – 415.0 km;

Maximum height over the Earth’s surface – 428.7 km;

Rotation period – 92.82 min;

Orbit inclination – 51.66 deg.

Two separate correctional maneuvers to reach the necessary orbit ascent parameters were carried out to provide the technical conditions for the safe engine mode operation. As a result, the station got the necessary orbit ascent parameters, to provide for the Soyuz MS-14 ascent, approach and docking, as well as subsequent landing of the spacecraft.
