Aeroflot celebrates 55 years of flying to Cyprus

Aeroflot has just marked 55th anniversary of flights to Cyprus. The first flight was operated to the airport of Nicosia on the Ilyushin Il-18 airliner. In 1976 Aeroflot launched services to the island’s third largest city Larnaca. Cyprus is one of the most popular destinations in the Aeroflot route network. In Summer, the Russian carrier operates three daily flights to Larnaca from Sheremetyevo. In 2018, Aeroflot carried 228 thousand passengers on the route.

Aeroflot Group connects Cyprus to both Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Rossiya Airlines offers a daily service from Russia’s Northern Capital to Larnaca. Flights are operated under Aeroflot’s commercial management.

Cyprus is synonymous with relaxing beach vacation. It takes less than four hours to travel from Moscow to the world-famous crystal clear beaches marked by blue flags. Remnants of the ancient civilizations have been preserved on Cyprus, including Neolithic structures, ancient city ruins, Tombs of the Kings underground necropolis. Orthodox Christian sacred sites attract pilgrims from around the world. Trekking lovers can explore the numerous nature trails. Extreme sport practitioners will enjoy cliff hanging and mountain hiking.
