Search-and-rescue team flies to Kazakhstan to ensure landing of Soyuz MS-11, Central MD

A search and rescue team of the Central Military District flew to the Republic of Kazakhstan to ensure the landing of the international expedition of the International Space Station (ISS).

Ten Mi-8 transport helicopters and four An-12 and An-26 airplanes of the Central Military District flew from the Uprun military airfield (Chelyabinsk region) to operational airfields in Kazakhstan. On board the helicopters and airplanes, there is all the necessary equipment for landing and first aid, as well as four Sinyaya Ptitsa search and evacuation amphibious vehicles.

Earlier it was reported that two Mi-8 helicopters and one An-26 aircraft flew to conduct air reconnaissance of the area of the alleged landing of the transport and manned vehicle.

A total of 12 Mi-8 helicopters, two An-12 and two An-26 aircraft, 20 units of automotive and special equipment, including six amphibious vehicles, as well as about 200 personnel, are involved in the operation.

The landing of the Soyuz MS-11 transport manned vehicle is scheduled for June 25, 2019, in the Kazakhstan steppes near the city of Zhezkazgan. Cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko with astronauts Anne McClain (NASA) and David Saint-Jacques (Canadian Space Agency) will return to the Earth.
