S7 Airlines will lift 100 aircraft into the sky

The fleet of the largest private airline in Russia has been upgraded with one hundredth aircraft.

S7 Airlines, a member of the oneworld® global aviation alliance®, announces the acquisition of a new Airbus A320neo aircraft. The plane has become the hundredth aircraft in the airline’s fleet. The aircraft was transferred to S7 Airlines at the manufacturer’s factory in Hamburg.

The new Airbus A320neo has a distinctive sign. At the delivery ceremony, Vladislav Filyov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of S7 Group, put a sticker with the number 100 on the fuselage. The sticker is located near the front door and will be visible to passengers who board the plane.

“New aircraft of the A320neo family are coming to the S7 Airlines fleet to replace the previous generation. For example, this year, five Airbus A319 aircraft will leave the airline’s fleet and will be returned to lessors. S7 Airlines currently operates 17 Airbus A320neo and A321neo. These aircraft are more environmentally friendly and have been recognized as the quietest in their class. Our passengers have already been able to appreciate the comfort and reliability of the aircraft—a low level of noise, a modern cabin and an improved air conditioning system. Airbus A320neo are more efficient in operation— their fuel consumption is reduced by more than 15%, while the flight range is higher than that of the previous generation,” noted Vladislav Filyov.

S7 Airlines has the most modern fleet of aircraft on the Russian air transportation market. All flights of the airline are operated on aircraft of the leading world manufacturers — Airbus (60 aircraft), Boeing (23 aircraft), and Embraer (17 aircraft).

The new S7 Airlines aircraft is designed to carry 8 passengers in business class and 156 passengers in economy class. Modern seats are equipped with power outlets featuring USB ports, as well as special holders for mobile devices. A miniature three-level stand, located at the eye level, allows passengers to mount a tablet or a smartphone on the back of seat in front of them. This is especially convenient for those who use the on-board entertainment system — during the flight passengers can watch movies and TV shows, listen to music and read books for free, with the option to charge their smartphone or tablet at any time.

Airbus experts have upgraded the panels above the passenger seats. They have become more convenient to use and have been equipped with LED reading lamps featuring more eye-pleasing light.

Airbus A320neo has the lowest noise level among the aircraft of this class. The area of the sound track during take-off is 50% smaller than that of the previous generation aircraft.

The improved air conditioning system developed by the manufacturer ensures freshness of the air and its even distribution in the cabin of the aircraft, fully replacing the air every two minutes.

The new aircraft has been leased from AerCap leasing company. The airplane is equipped with the latest Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100G-JM engines and features Sharklets wing tips made of composite materials, resulting in improved aerodynamic characteristics of the airplane.
