Sheremetyevo International Airport recently published its performance results for May and the first five months of 2019. The number of passengers serviced at the airport has increased by 15.4% year-on-year, totalling 18.787 million*. Between January and May 2019, the airport oversaw 155,120 takeoff and landing operations (TOLs), which is 15.8% more than in the same period in 2018.
Its performance in May 2019 made Sheremetyevo the world leader in punctuality, according to the FlightStats ranking of world airports, Major Airports category, ensuring on-time departures for 92.6% of all flights.
From January to May 2019, passenger traffic on international flights was up 13.4% (9.838 million), and domestic traffic increased by 17.7% (8.949 million).
In May 2019, Sheremetyevo serviced 4.112 million people, or 12.6% more than in May last year. Passenger traffic for May was up 13.6% on international flights with a total of 2.226 million, and up 11.5% on domestic flights at 1.886 million.
In the first five months of 2019, the majority of passenger traffic came from flights operated by Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Rossiya Airlines, Ikar Airlines, Air France and Royal Flight.
The most popular international destinations from January to May were Paris, Antalya, Yerevan, Tel Aviv and Beijing. The top domestic destinations in the first five months of 2019 were St. Petersburg, Sochi, Simferopol, Yekaterinburg and Krasnodar.
