Sheremetyevo International Airport has published the performance results for April and the four months of 2019. The airport's total number of passengers served reached 14.676 million*, a 16.2% increase from the previous year.
The data from April has earned Sheremetyevo the title of the world's top airport by on-time performance in the Major Airports category, according to Flightstats rankings. 95.08% of all departures at Sheremetyevo were on time.
Q1 2019 results have seen Sheremetyevo ranked second by passenger traffic growth (up 17,6% from the previous year) among the busiest European airports with annual passenger traffic of over 25 million people, according to the ACI EUROPE data.
Compared to early 2019, passenger traffic on international flights is up 13.3% and amounts to 7.613 million people. Passenger traffic on domestic flights has grown 19.5% to reach 7.063 million people.
In April 2019, Sheremetyevo served 3.968 million passengers, up 12.6% from the previous year. The number of passengers on international flights is up 14.1% at 2.116 million people, and up 10.9% for domestic flights at 1.853 million people.
In the four months of 2019, the largest contributors to the increase in Sheremetyevo's passenger traffic have been Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Rossiya Airlines, Ikar Airlines, Air France and Air Astana.
The most popular domestic destinations included St. Petersburg, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Simferopol, and Krasnodar. The most in-demand international flights proved to be those to Paris, Yerevan, Bangkok, Tel Aviv, and Prague.
In the first four months of 2019, Sheremetyevo oversaw 122,010 takeoff and landing operations (TOLs), up 16.9% from the same period in 2018. The total number of TOLs for April 2019 is 31,446, a 12.6% increase from the previous year.
