Eight launches of Soyuz carrier rockets with OneWeb satellites will be carried out from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, which is two launches more than it was planned, Dmitry Loskutov, the head of Roscosmos' launch service provider Glavkosmos said in an interview with the RIA Novosti.
Earlier it was assumed that 11 launches of Soyuz rockets with OneWeb satellites would be carried out from Baikonur, six from the Vostochny, four from the Kourou cosmodrome (one has already been carried out). In total, the contract between Roscosmos, the French company Arianespace and the British OneWeb provides for 21 launches.
"The first launch of OneWeb satellites from the Baikonur Cosmodrome is going to take place in the fourth quarter of 2019," he said.
"As part of the program, nine launches of Soyuz-2 carrier rockets with OneWeb spacecraft are going to be carried out from this cosmodrome ... Concerning launches from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, the first one is going to take place in the second quarter of 2020. Now we are considering the possibility to carry out eight launches from the Vostochny Cosmodrome as part of the OneWeb project," said Loskutov.
