Sheremetyevo International Airport summed up its operating results for Q1 of 2019. The number of passengers served has increased by 17.6% compared to the same period in 2018, amounting to 10.707 million people. The Sheremetyevo airport successfully oversaw 90.564 takeoff and landing operations (TOLs), which is 18.4% more than in Q1 of 2018. And the share of the Sheremetyevo airport in total passenger traffic of all airports of the Moscow Airport Cluster was 52%, on international routes—58%.
Sheremetyevo remains one of the world's leading airports, with a consistently high quality of service for passengers and airlines. According to the FlightStats rating in March 2019, Sheremetyevo again came out on top in on-time performance in the Major Airports category: it ensured a punctual departure for 94.72% of all flights.
The first quarter of 2019 saw Sheremetyevo's international passenger traffic grow 13% to reach 5.497 million passengers, while the passenger traffic on domestic routes grew 22.8% and amounted to 5.210 million people.
In March 2019, passenger traffic of Sheremetyevo Airport was 3.822 million passengers, which is 17% more than during the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the international passenger traffic increased by 12.8% to 1.955 million people, and the domestic passenger traffic grew 21.7% to a total of 1.867 million passengers.
Airlines with the largest passenger traffic in Q1 of 2019 are Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Rossiya Airlines, Ikar Airlines, and Air France. Compared to the same period in 2018, Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Ikar Airlines, and Alitalia posted the most significant increase in passenger traffic.
The most popular international destinations in Q1 of 2019 were Bangkok, Paris, Yerevan, Tel Aviv, and Prague. In comparison to the same period last year, Bangkok, Antalya, Dubai, Rome, and Colombo experienced the highest surge in passenger traffic.
As for domestic destinations, flights to Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Simferopol, and Krasnodar proved the most popular. Domestic destinations with the largest increase in passenger traffic were Sochi, Makhachkala, Vladivostok, Saint Petersburg, and Ufa.
