Su-27SM fighters escort Tu-160 strategic bombers in flight over the Black Sea

Fighter jets of Southern MD escorted Tu-160 strategic bombers, and also practiced the interception of air targets over the Black Sea.

Four Su-27SM of Black Sea Fleet Naval Aviation scrambled from one of the operational airfields in the Crimea to escort strategic missile carriers. Each pair of Su-27SM fighter jets alternately practiced escort of Tu-160, and then performed the interception of an adversary in the air at the far enemy lines.

The planned activities of combat training take place amid NATO Sea Shield 2019 joint operational naval exercise.
