A-50 AWACS aircraft involved in exercises of the Navy and Aviation in the Black Sea, Southern MD

To ensure the accomplishment of combat training tasks of Southern MD Aviation and Navy in the Black Sea A-50 Airborne Warning and Control System Aircraft were involved.

The crews of A-50 aircraft flew to one of the operational airfields in Krasnodarsky Krai and after refueling set off to increase the radar coverage in the duty zone.

Being in the air over the Black Sea for more than 5 hours, they carried out more than 20 guidance operations of Su-27CM and Su-30 fighters on supersonic and stratospheric targets.

The exercise involved more than 50 tactical airplanes and helicopters, S-400 Triumph Anti-Aircraft Missile Systems divisions, as well as the surface action group and Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems divisions of the Black Sea Fleet.

Planned combat training activities are held amid NATO Union Shield 2019 joint operational naval exercise, which served as a good ground for development of the Black Sea Fleet training and combat missions in a real environment.
