Tactical aircraft practise a night in-flight refuelling, Southern Military District

Pilots of the 4th Air Force and Air Defence Army of the Southern Military District are improving their in-flight refueling skills by the day and at night as part of a flight tactical exercise.

About 20 Su-24M, Su-34 bombers and Su-30SM fighters are involved in the flight tactical exercises. An Il-78 tanker aircraft is used as an air tanker, capable of refueling 8-10 aircraft in one sortie.

Aircraft are refueled in the air at altitudes of up to 6,000 meters at a speed of 550-600 km/h, while the distance between the aircraft is about 20 meters. For successful docking of refueling equipment in the air, it is necessary to observe the set speed and altitude, as well as the distance between the aircraft.
