Sheremetyevo tops World's busiest airports rankings in on-time performance

Passenger traffic at the Sheremetyevo airport increased by 18% in January and February. 
Sheremetyevo International  Airport summed up its operating results for January and February 2019.  The number of passengers served year-to-date has increased by 18% compared to the same period in 2018, amounting to 6.885 million people.

In the first two months of 2019, the Sheremetyevo airport oversaw 59,396 takeoff and landing operations (TOLs), which is 20% more than in the same period of 2018. The number of TOLs in February increased by 19.9% to reach 27,932 operations.

With passenger and cargo traffic along with the number of takeoff and landing operations growing, the airport shows high efficiency of its business processes, which is confirmed by the on-time performance ranking of world’s airports by the American data services company FlightStats. The published report places Sheremetyevo on top in on-time departure performance in the Major Airports category for February 2019, with 93.65% flights departed on time.

The first two months of 2019 saw Sheremetyevo's international passenger traffic increase by 13.2% to reach 3.542 million passengers, while the domestic passenger traffic grew by 23.5% to 3.343 million.

In February 2019, passenger traffic at the Sheremetyevo airport grew by 18.6% to reach 3.295 million passengers. Meanwhile, the international passenger traffic increased by 13.5% to 1.678 million people, while the domestic passenger traffic grew by 24.3% reaching 1.617 million passengers. 

In January and February 2019, Bangkok, Paris, Yerevan, Prague, and Phuket were the most popular foreign destinations, and flights to St. Petersburg, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, and Simferopol were in highest demand among the domestic destinations. 

The growth of passenger traffic at Sheremetyevo in the first two months of 2019 was mostly due to such airlines as Aeroflot, Nordwind, Rossiya, Ikar (Pegas Fly), Air France, and Air Astana.
