The fighter jet, which got airborne for a training mission from Jaisalmer, crashed at around 6.10 pm (Indian Standard Time) near the Pokhran Range.
Pilot of the crashed jet is reportedly safe. According to media reports, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will set up a court of enquiry to investigate the cause of the accident.

This is the second big crash of a fighter jet of IAF within a fortnight. Earlier this month, an upgraded Mirage 2000 fighter jet crashed in Bengaluru killing two pilots.
