Rossiya Airlines, the official carrier of I Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games, has transported sportsmen fr om Moscow to the location of the competition – to Sakhalin
On February 8, on the eve of the opening of I Winter Children of Asia International Sport Games, long-haul aircrafts of Rossiya Airlines, the official carrier of the competition, finished the transportation of participants, fans, volunteers and organizers of the main sports event of the Far East to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. One of the most capacious aircrafts in the fleet of the national airlines Rossiya’s Boeing 777-300ER transported more than 700 of participants from Moscow. All passengers on board of the airline’s liners were provided with the additional information about the Games.
«I would like to express my gratitude to the official carrier, Rossiya Airlines, for the organization of flights for participants of Children of Asia – said the CEO of the I Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games Vladimir Maksimov – among others, one of the priority management tasks during the preparation of the Games was logistics. A direct flight over the whole country is already an adventure for many young sportsmen. For organizers, as well as for parents, it was important that all flights to such a distance are held in a regular mode. Thanks to Rossiya Airlines, participants already felt the hospitality of Sakhalin in Moscow when boarding the aircraft. All flights were operated according to the schedule, emotions from traveling – for some of them the first ones in their life – were for a long time imprinted on faces of children».

I Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games are held in order to spread the ideas of the Olympic movement, develop youth sports and strengthen international sports cooperation. The first winter games will be held with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Olympic Council of Asia, the Olympic Council of Russia, the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation and the Government of Sakhalin Region. Participants will determine the strongest in such sports as figure skating, hockey, short track, skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, cross-country skiing and ski jumping.
Rossiya Airlines pays the highest attention to support of national sportsmen. In 2018, the fleet of the company was replenished with Sportolet – Airbus A319 VQ-BCP, which received a unique livery, the main elements of which are the stylized images and attributes, representing four sports – football, hockey, gymnastics and figure skating. Rossiya gained successful experience in transportation of different sports collectives, for example, figure skating and hockey teams. The airline is equally popular among its passengers and among sports teams, who are demanding to compliance with the sports regime and special conditions, even during flights.
Within the framework of improving the quality of services provided on board, the airline has already renewed catering on all Far Eastern flights. Liners of Rossiya are equipped with mobile streaming servers SIFES, which allow passengers to connect their personal gadgets to the internal Wi-Fi hotspot, wh ere they can find an entertainment content. Young passengers of Rossiya started to receive new travel kits, which include augmented reality stickers. Travel kits were also introduced in Business class to provide even more comfort for passengers. The airline conducted a special survey on Moscow – Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk flights on the eve of the Games to get feedback from the participants of the competition about the onboard services. Passengers were offered to fill in a form, in which they were able to evaluate the quality of onboard services and write their wishes, which will be assessed by the airline to continue working on making flights even more comfortable.
