At the end of August at the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N. E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI) was one of the most important stages of strength tests of the promising Russian airliner MC-21-300SI. This report by TsAGI press-service.
Scientists conducted certification static tests of the wing as part of the airframe on the main design case of the maneuver with a maximum vertical overload equal to 2,5. This case is the main when checking the strength of the wing. According to scientists, in flight, the airliner can make such a maneuver, if there is a need to gain altitude.
"At this stage, the maximum loads (142,5% of the operating values) were applied to the wing, and the other units – the fuselage, horizontal tail and power plant – were exposed to balancing loads. All elements showed good compliance with the standards of strength. The results will allow experts to remove a number of restrictions and expand the program of flight tests of the aircraft. Further, TsAGI experts plan to conduct certification static tests of the fuselage MC-21-300SI in case of maximum load during landing", - noted in TSAGI.
MC-21-300SI instance airliner MC-21-300 is specifically designed for static strength tests.
