6,000 paratroopers to take part in Vostok 2018 maneuvers

6,000 servicemen of the Russian Airborne Troops will take part in Vostok 2018 maneuvers.

Over 900 armored and wheeled vehicles of the Airborne Troops will be involved the maneuvers. For the first time, the paratroopers will use new models of military equipment recently received by the airborne assault brigades deployed in Ulyanovsk and the Republic of Buryatia, such as BMD-4M airborne assault vehicle, BTR-MDM armoured personnel carrier (APC), Rys armored vehicle, Patriot pick-up with Cornet anti-tank guided missile and Cord large-caliber machine gun.

In addition, about 10 crews of unmanned aerial vehicle Erion-3, Orlan-10 of the Airborne Troops will  conduct reconnaissance from the air.

The transfer of Airborne Troops grouping involved in the Vostok 2018 maneuvers  to the Trans-Baikal Territory was conducted in a combined way, both by air and by rail.

The Vostok 2018 maneuvers have kicked off in the territory of the Far East and Pacific Ocean water zones on September 11-17 in accordance with the Russian Armed Forces under the leadership of the General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
