Bodies of climbers killed in Tajikistan Mi-8 helicopter crash landing transported to Russia

The bodies of three mountaineers killed in a Mi-8 helicopter crash landing in Tajikistan, have been transported to Moscow by Tajikistan’s Somon Air, the air carrier’s press service informed TASS on Friday.

"The Somon Air national air carrier has sent the Russian climbers’ bodies to Moscow aboard the flight, which departed from Dushanbe at 08:00 local time (06:00 Moscow time)," the company’s spokesman said. The bodies of Alexander Abrosimov, Timur Barabanov and Rurslan Tarakanov will be delivered to Domodedovo Airport. The plane is expected to arrive at 10:30 Moscow time.

A Russian Mil Mi-8 helicopter carrying 15 mountaineers and three crew members crash landed in Tajikistan on Sunday. In addition to 13 Russians, there was one Belarusian citizen and one Spanish national among the climbers. Three Russian mountaineers and two crew members, citizens of Tajikistan, were killed, while thirteen people were injured. According to preliminary data and the flight engineer’s evidence, the accident was caused by poor weather conditions.
