MiG-31 fighter jets operated by Pacific Fleet perform non-stop 4000-km long-haul flight to the Arctic Region

The MiG-31 fighter jets operated by the Russian Pacific Fleet’s naval aviation have performed a 4,000-kilometer long-haul flight to the Arctic Region, fleet spokesman Nikolai Voskresensky said on Monday.

"During the flight tactical exercise in the Kamchatka Region [in Russia’s Far East], the pilots of the mixed regiment of the Pacific Fleet’s naval aviation have performed a long-haul flight to the Arctic Region. <…> The distance of the non-stop flight performed by the MiG-31 fighter jets was over 4,000 kilometers, and the duration of the flight exceeded 5 hours," the spokesman noted without specifying the number of the aircraft, which took part in the flight.

The planes departed from the Yelizovo airfield in Kamchatka, flew more than 1,600 kilometers northward and refueled in midair near the city of Anadyr. After that, they reached the Chukchi Sea coast and rounded Cape Schmidt. Having refueled once again, the planes headed for Kamchatka and arrived at the Yelizovo airport successfully.
