Russian Aviaton » Friday July 20, 2018 12:48 MSK

Norilsk’s airport after the runway’s renovation will serve all kinds of aircraft, representative of the company, making the renovation, Sergei Starostin, told reporters on Thursday.

"This runway will receive all kind of aircraft, and the state warranty under the contract is five years," he said. "If anything goes wrong, our specialists will come to Norilsk to fix the problem."

"However, based on the experience, I can say: there would not be any troubles for a decade," he added.

According to him, the company, Transstroymehanizatsiya, is working 24 hours a day, and 245 specialists are working at the site at a time. "There is still much work to do, but the runway’s biggest part is ready."

TASS reported earlier, the renovation’s final stage was due from June 4 to September 22, 2018. Over this time, the runway’s effective length is slightly over 1,700 meters, thus it may serve smaller planes and Boeing 737-800.

Renovation of the Alykel airport in Norilsk began in 2016. All works are done during warm seasons only. The renovation is due to be finished in September, 2018. The federal budget allocates for the program 9.6 billion rubles ($154 million), and the Norilsk Nickel Company (Nornickel) invests 3 billion rubles ($48 million).
