The pilots of MiG-31 fighter interceptors of the Pacific Fleet Naval Air Force are the first in the Russian Armed Forces to conduct commander flights in the new training six months. The airplanes scrambled from the Kamchatka air base Yelizovo at a dawn to carry out the tasks in the assigned areas.

All-level commanders are working out the most difficult combat trainings: performing the assigned tasks in zero-zero weather conditions, including at night, piloting aircraft at extremely low altitudes, flights in the stratosphere, as well as instrument landing.

Moreover, the MiG-31 crews are practising their interaction with the aerodrome flight control team during take-offs, landing approaches and landings.

The main purpose of commander's flights is to develop methods for training the flight personnel and maintaining their flying skills.
