Sheremetyevo International Airport presented the largest cargo complex in Russia “Moscow Cargo” to airlines and cargo forwarders at air cargo China-2018. The exhibition took place from May 16-18, 2018 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

During the exhibition the operator of the cargo terminal LLC “Moscow Cargo” demonstrated capabilities and the technical features of the new Sheremetyevo cargo complex, that allow handling all types of cargo: valuable, temperature sensitive, pharma and dangerous cargo including explosive and radioactive materials.

As the largest Russian airport, Sheremetyevo contributes to the realisation of the transit air transport potential of the country, including between China, South-East Asia and Europe. The freight traffic to and from China and South-East Asia accounted at 20% of Sheremetyevo’s total cargo turnover in 2017 (58 thousand tonnes). Chinese directions are traditionally among the busiest at Sheremetyevo: Shanghai (PVG), Beijing (PEK) and Hong Kong (HKG) were among the most popular international routes in 2017. Moreover the impressive growth in freight traffic was marked on the routes to Zhengzhou (CGO) and Chengdu (CTU) in 2017. Routes to Singapore (SIN), Hanoi (HAN) and Bangkok (BKK) were also among the most popular in 2017.

The launch of commercial operation of “Moscow Cargo” complex in the end of 2017 was one of the main steps in reaching Sheremetyevo’s strategic development goals: to establish itself as the leading European hub for global cargo flows. Sheremetyevo plans to handle over 700,000 tonnes of cargo annually by 2024. In this regard, the design and construction of the second stage of the cargo terminal with an additional capacity of 380 thousand tonnes of cargo annually will be started this year. Sheremetyevo International Airport will strengthen its position as the European hub for global cargo flows in partnership with PJSC Aeroflot and Volga-Dnepr.
