Pulkovo Airport increases passenger traffic by 9.6% in first quarter of 2018

In the first quarter of 2018, Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport welcomes 3,177,334 passengers, a number 9.6% higher than in the same period of 2018.

Domestic traffic grew by 4.3% to 2,143,378 passengers. International traffic increased by 22.4% and amounted to 1,033,956 passengers.

In the first three months of 2018, Pulkovo airport handled 33,112 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 7.3% year-on-year. The maximum take-off weight handled amounted to 1,104,145 tons, a figure 7.7% higher than in the same period of 2017.

In Q1 2018, Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, Pobeda and Ural Airlines were the largest Russian carriers in terms of passenger numbers at Pulkovo. In total, they provided services to 1,979,536 passengers at St. Petersburg airport, or 62.3% of the total traffic in this period.

Among foreign airlines, Lufthansa, Belavia, Uzbekistan Airways, Emirates and Air Astana became the leaders at St. Petersburg airport in Q1 2018. In total, they handled 244,961 passengers at Pulkovo during the 3-month period, or 7.7% of the total airport traffic.

Pukovo Airport launched six new routes in the first quarter of 2018: Chengdu (China), Cologne (Germany), Pisa (Italy), Malta, Magas (Ingushetia region in Russia), and Nadym (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region in Russia). Two new carriers — Sichuan Airlines and Air Malta — commenced scheduled service to St. Petersburg. In addition to the British Airways’ St.Petersburg — London (Heathrow) daily service, Rossiya Airlines launched daily flights to London Gatwick. S7 Airlines announced a start of service to Murmansk.
