The state tests of the AL-41F-1 prototype engine for the fifth generation Su-57 fighter have been completed, the United Engine-Building Corporation said.
Experimental design work assuming a deep modernization of the Soviet turbojet engine AL-31F, which installed, in particular, on the Su-27 fighter, continued for 14 years.
It is expected that the AL-41F-1 will receive the first few Su-57s. In the future, the newest Russian fighters are planning to install the advanced fighter aircraft engine "Izdelie 30".
Compared with the AL-41F1 engine, Izdelie 30 is 30 percent lighter, offers 19,000 kg of thrust, and has better fuel efficiency and fewer moving parts resulting in 30 percent lower life cycle costs. The Izdelie 30 will also support high supercruise speed with outstanding fuel efficiency.
