The Ladoga 2018 exercise has started at the Besovets airfield, Karelia, Western military district.
Pilots of the Air Force and Air Defence army are to carry out firing and missile launches as well as practise elements of air combat. MiG-29SMT, MiG-31BM, and Su-27 of different modifications are involved in the exercise.
The pilots will not receive information about the target in advance. They will have to detect and intercept it while performing tasks of combat alert in the air.
