S7 Technics' aircraft engine repair shop at Domodedovo Airport has expanded its capabilities in CFM56-5B/7B MRO. The shop's technical and engineering staff has received approvals for complete disassembly and reassembly of these popular engines, which power Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737 aircraft.
The shop is now entitled to provide repairs of high and low pressure compressor and turbine units, replacement of combustion chambers, high pressure turbine nozzles and other units.
"We are now virtually limited to, basically, overhaul. Up until that level we can perform the entire range of works, and offer our customers such benefits as optimal costs and terms of visits," Alexey Starkov, head of S7 Technics' engine repair shop comments.
In this move to the next level in engine MRO S7 Technics was assisted by its long-time partner, Swiss SR Technics, one of the leading engine maintenance providers globally.
"One year into operations after launch in 2016 we realized that the demand for engine repair services in Russia and CIS market had surged. And there were some requests that were not covered by our capabilities. For instance, there were many requests for combustion chamber replacement or for works on the fan. So we asked SR Technics to help us grow in that direction. As a result we have acquired additional competences, allowing us to completely disassemble engines and rectify the defects," Alexey Starkov notes.
