The Bulgarian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has selected Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RSK MiG) under a single-source tender to provide the Bulgarian Air Force (BuAF) with integrated logistical support for its 15 MiG-29 jet fighters for 48 months. This reported by Jane's 360.
Bulgarian Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov signed the agreement on 6 March after negotiations with the Russian company were completed in Sofia on 16 February.
The MoD originally published the tender on 7 December with the intention of sealing the Bulgarian-Russian deal before the end of 2017. However, the procurement process was put on hold on 19 December when Ukrainian state-owned arms trading company Ukrinmash appealed the single-source tender.
