Western MD army aviation pilots improve their skills in performing missions in Arctic

Pilots of an aviation regiment of the WMD army aviation stationed in the Leningrad Region began to improve their professional skills in fulfilling planned special tasks in the Far North conditions.

After an intermediate refuelling landing in Karelia. Mi-8AMTSh combat transport and MI-26heavy transport-landing helicopters have covered over 1,500 kilometres to accomplish the assigned tasks.

The Western MD army aviation crews are to work in conditions of extremely low temperatures and to train their survival skills in the Arctic. Pilots are to work out autonomous searching for the symbolically distressed aircraft day and night, to learn providing first medical aid after strongest frostbites, and also to practise evacuating the symbolically injured crew members and passengers on board of the hovering helicopter.
