The Russian low-cost airline Pobeda commenced scheduled service from Pulkovo Saint Petersburg Airport to Cologne on February 17, 2018. The German city becomes the first international destination in Pobeda’s route network from Pulkovo.
The flights are operated twice a week on B737-800 aircraft: on Wednesdays and Saturdays until March 24, then on Mondays and Fridays, starting March 26.
One of the key economic and cultural centers of Germany, Cologne marks the country’ sixth destination connected to St. Petersburg by direct air service. The scheduled flights from Pulkovo Airport are also performed to Berlin (Schönefeld and Tegel airports), Frankfurt-am-Maine, Munich, Hamburg, and Dusseldorf.
In 2018, Pobeda will continue to expand the geography of flights from St. Petersburg. From February 18, the carrier will launch scheduled twice-weekly service to Pisa (Italy), adding another frequency from March 27. In the Summer 2018 IATA season, the airline will start flights to Gyumri (Armenia), Girona (Spain), Tbilisi (Georgia), as well to the Russian cities of Kaliningrad, Nizhnekamsk, and Ulyanovsk.
In 2017, Pobeda provided services to 464,000 passengers at Pulkovo Airport, almost doubling its traffic at LED as compared to the year 2016 (+90.5%). For its operational results in St. Petersburg, the carrier won Pulkovo airport’s annual LED Together award as The Best Developing Domestic Carrier.
Established in 2014, Pobeda is a part of Aeroflot group and the only low-cost carrier in Russia. The fleet consists of 16 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Pulkovo Airport ranks fourth in Russia in passenger traffic. In 2017, Pulkovo welcomed 16.125 million people (+21.6% YOY), celebrating a new record in its 85-year-long history. The route network of St. Petersburg airport includes 155 domestic and international destinations with scheduled flights operated by 72 Russian and foreign airlines. Since 2010, an international consortium Northern Capital Gateway LLC manages the airport and implements its reconstruction and development project on the basis on public-private partnership with the city of St. Petersburg.
