During the flight tactical exercise, interceptor fighters and bombers of a separate mixed air regiment from the Northern Fleet Air Force and Air Defence Army practised engaging sea and land targets in case of an attempt to violate the RF state border.
According to the scenario, four flights of the Su-24 bombers scrambled from the airfield. The MiG-31 interceptor fighters escorted and covered the bombers.
The pilots performed flights near the Russian airspace borders, having worked out manoeuvres to protect them, as well as over the Barents Sea.
One of the features of the exercise was that the strikes at the simulated enemy’s armoured vehicles and surface ships were delivered by aircraft from low and extremely low altitudes.
