The Qatar Airways carrier hopes to sign a document launching the procedure of acquisition of a 25-percent stake in the shares of Russia's Vnukovo International Airport within several weeks, Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker told Sputnik.

In April, the Qatar Airways and Vnukovo International Airport signed a memorandum of understanding that presupposes the possibility of purchasing a 25-percent stake in the airport by the airline.

"We are doing the due diligence because, you know, we have to look at the business model and everything. And we are very keen to take this. I hope we sign soon as soon we finish the due diligence. Should be weeks," Al Baker said.
