Egypt and Russia have agreed to carry six regular flights a week between Moscow and Cairo starting from the first week of February, a source in Egypt’s airport management company and a source in EgyptAir told PRIME on Tuesday.

“An agreement on three weekly flights by airline EgyptAir from Cairo to Moscow and back, and consequently, on three flights by Russian airline Aeroflot has been reached,” the management company source said.

“I expect that the first flights will be carried in the first week of February in correspondence with the agreements attained in Moscow and statements by Civil Aviation Minister of Egypt Sharif Fathi.”

On December 15, Russia and Egypt signed an agreement on security in Egyptian airports that will allow the two countries to restart air travel between Moscow and Cairo suspended in 2015 after a crash of a Russian plane over the Sinai Peninsula.
