During the New Year’s holidays, from December 25, 2017 to January 8, 2018, Pulkovo St. Petersburg airport welcomed 609,625 passengers, which is 8% more than in the same period of 2017.
The busiest day of the winter holidays was December 30, 2017 when Pulkovo handled 50,389 travelers. The most popular Russian routes during of the winter break were Moscow, Kaliningrad and Yekaterinburg. Meanwhile Minsk, Frankfurt am Main and Prague became the most in-demand foreign destinations in the airport’s route network.
The domestic leading airlines in terms of passenger traffic from Pulkovo were Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, and S7 Airlines, while Lufthansa, Belavia and airBaltic made the top-three in passenger numbers among the foreign carriers.
The traffic statistics for the winter holidays include the last week of the previous year and the period of the official national New Year holidays in Russia. This year, the national holidays lasted from January 1, 2018 to January 8, 2018, first day of business being January 9, 2018.
In 2017, Pulkovo St. Petersburg airport welcomed over 16 million passengers. The route network included 151 destinations with scheduled flights operated by 72 airlines.
