The aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and Russia agreed on increasing the number of frequencies on the contractual airlines between the two countries, the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) said.
According to the arrangements, the number of flights from Kazakhstan’s Astana and Almaty to Russia’s St. Petersburg and vice versa will increase from seven to 10 per week, starting from the summer season of 2018, and 14 per week – from the summer season of 2019 granting the right to appoint a second air carrier, which will not be affiliated with the current designated air carrier.
In addition, the number of Astana – Moscow – Astana flights will be increased from nine to 12 per week, starting from the summer season in 2018.
On the above-mentioned directions, the direct flights are carried out by the national air carriers of both countries, Aeroflot, Russia, and Air Astana, Kazakhstan.
As regards other contractual airlines, the number of flights has been decided to increase from seven to 10 per week, the document says.
