Western MD Air Force to be redeployed to operational airfields in course of the Zapad 2017 strategic exercise

Tactic aviation of the Western MD is to be redeployed to operational airfields in course of the Zapad 2017 strategic exercise.

Staff of the 6th Air Force and Air Defence army as well as several formations and units of the army have been put on highest levels of combat readiness.

Actions by aircraft and air defence forces is controlled by regional control centre of the Western MD staff. Fighters are patrolling airspace over the borderline zone.

Actions of the involved troops (forces) will be practised at combined-arms ranges and in the Baltic Sea water zone.
