In course of the Zapad 2017 Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise, air defence units of the Western MD repelled simulated air attack in the Leningrad region.

The radar crews detected more than 20 air targets flying in the immediate vicinity from a simulated air boarder with turned-off transponders and ignoring the inquires.

The adversary’s flights data had been transmitted by the Fundament-M system through the Western MD air defence command post to the SAM systems crews of the S-400, S-300, Pantsir-S as well as to the fighters’ standby crews that practised interception and simulated elimination of air targets.

All the air targets flying in the Western MD air defence area of responsibility have been timely detected and intercepted.
