Fighters of the Russian Aerospace and Western MD fighters held tactical flight training in the Astrakhan region. The jet planes intercepted cruising missiles of a simulated enemy, conducted group air combat and launched air-to-air missiles to hit air targets.

MiG-29SMT fighters trained a most difficult flight element – close maneuver air combat in pairs and in squads and in flights in restricted airspace. The pilots have practised offensive and defence with advanced aerobatics taking evasive and counterattack actions.

Special planes laid targets provided mines to exercise combat shooting. Each target simulated a hostile drone. The Dan missile targets were launched imitating cruising missiles. All the targets were intercepted and eliminated by air-to-air missiles. Afterwards the fighters performed anti-missile maneuvering, taking evasive actions.

About 20 crews of the Russian Aerospace Forces and Western MD were engaged in the exercise.
